The process of creating things has always been so captivating to me..and still is. I love drawing, painting, poetry, working with fabrics, wood-working, and recently photography! "You can only become truly accomplished at something you love..pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can't take their eyes off you." Maya Angelou.

Sometimes beauty seems to capture itself in photos...meaning I did not realize a quick snap of a view, on a recent boat ride would reveal such a lovely scene! Sometimes it's just being in the right place at the right time and observing God's work... Ever notice that about photography? (Photography by Mecia)

This is a gift from a former student in Costa Rica. He told me he uses what he finds around the house to draw - even his mom's make-up pencils. He is very gifted and I am sure will make a great impact on the world. He told me he wants to be a doctor to help the elderly. What a heart! I wish him much success. What is it about working with youth that keeps you inspired?

Part I, "A few of life's essentials".....(pencil and marker) by Mecia. This was a final project for an art class at Columbia College. We were asked to create a drawing that described us... What does this one say about the artist?

This ink brush drawing was a new medium for me, and I found that I kind of had to let the brush do its thing. Isn't he handsome tho? hehe:) (black ink and ink brush)

Very rough sketch of my childhood home. It was burned down by the last owner. What a shame. Yet still, we have over 20 years of great memories of it! By Mecia. (pencil and marker sketch)
